In a meeting November 13-14, Nordbok treated 166 applications for translation support. See the list of titles receiving translation grants.

Connection Barents - a cross art collaboration in everyday life

Join the artistic expeditions through the borderlands of Norway, Finland, Sweden and Russia; the Barents region. From June 17 to July 2, 2006 a 2 week inter-disciplinary laboratory and symposium takes place at the very top of the Nordic countries. Professional artists within the fields of visual arts, music, literature and performing arts are invited to check-in before February 6, 2006. Nominations for the Nordic Council Literature Prize [09.12.05]
The names of the 12 candidates for the Nordic Council Literature Prize 2006 were released December 1. The prize winner will be announced on a press conference in Oslo February 24. Nordbok and the Nordic Council will give a seminar about Nordic literature and the literature prize the day before, Thursday February 23.

Nordboks's translation support

For the deadline October 1, Nordbok received 121 applications for inter-Nordic translation support. 42 applications were sent in for the Baltic/Russian support scheme. The applications will be treated within Nordbok November 13-14, and an answer will sent to the applicants as soon as possible after the meeting.

October 1 is Nordbok's next application deadline. One might apply for translation support between the Nordic languages, and between the Nordic and the Baltic languages/Russian as well as for translator's stipend (translations from Latvian, Estonian and Lithuanian).

Nordbok is moving [04.07.05]
Nordbok will be moving to new premises in July. Our postal address, telephone number, and e-mail will remain the same, but our new visiting address will be Observatoriegata 1B, 0254 Oslo. Due to the process of moving and to summer holidays, unfortunately we might not be able to answer to your inquieries until after August 1.

Granted funding from Nordbok spring 2005 [04.07.05]
In a meeting May 30 -31, Nordbok treated 29 applications for project funding, 2 applications for translator's stipends and 133 applications for inter-Nordic translation support. See the list of titles and projects receiving translation support and project funding respectively.


Translation support and project funding - application deadline April 1 [08.02.05]
April 1 is Nordbok's next application deadline. One might apply for translation support between the Nordic languages, for translator's stipend (translations from Greenlandic, Faeroese and Sami) and for project funding for Nordic literature and library projects.

Granted translation support fall 2004 [02.12.04]
In a meeting November 15 and 16, Nordbok treated 103 applications for inter-Nordic translation support, 38 applications for the support of translations between the Nordic and the Baltic languages and Russian, and finally 6 applications for translator's stipend. Nordic Council Literature Prize 2005 [02.12.04]
The names of the authors nominated for the Nordic Council Literature Prize 2005 were released December 1. The winner will be announced at the end of February 2005, and the prize will be awarded at the Nordic Council session in Reykjavík, Iceland, in late October 2005.

Nordic Critic's Prize to Norwegian critic [29.09.04]
In connection with the presentation of the yearbook Nordic Literature 2004, with literary criticism as its main theme, the editors launched the Nordic Council's Unofficial Criticism Award. The winner received her prize at the Gothenburgh Book Fair, and her name is Ane Farsethås and works as a literary critic for the Norwegian newspaper Dagens Næringsliv.

Campaigning for Criticism [21.09.2004]
The yearbook Nordic Literature 2004 will be launched this week at the Gothenburg Book Fair. The main theme of this year's edition is literary criticism and criticism as a literary practice. The editors of the yearbook have decided to launch the Nordic Council's Unofficial Criticism Award. They have nominated ten candidates, who are given the task of reviewing the nominated authors for the Nordic Council's Literary Prize of 2004. The winner of the award will be announced at the book fair. Another main theme in the yearbook is Nordic drama, and you can also read an interview with the winner of the Nordic Council's Literary Prize 2004, the Finnish author Kari Hotakainen. Furthermore, you'll find articles i.e. about the dominance of the realistic novel in Sweden and about Sámi literature in Finland. Nordic Literature 2004 is electronically available at these pages.


TRANSLATION GRANT- Application deadline October 1 [26.07.2004]
Twice a year, Nordbok grants financial support for the translation of Nordic literature. Once a year, Nordbok also supports the translation of Baltic and Russian literature into the Nordic languages and vice versa. The next application deadline is October 1.
